Il Caberlot, Bettina Rogosky
Die rote Rebsorte wurde Ende der 60er Jahre westlich von Verona in der italienischen Region Venetien vom Agronomen Remigio Bordini in einem alten Weinberg entdeckt und selektiert. Es handelt sich um eine höchstwahrscheinlich natürliche Kreuzung zwischen Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc und Merlot. Der Deutsche Wolf D. Rogosky kam Anfang der 80er Jahre mit Bordini in Kontakt und kreierte für die Sorte den Namen Caberlot. Auf seinem Landsitz in der Toskana begann er mit Weinbau und gründete das Weingut „Podere Il Carnasciale“ in der Nähe von Arezzo nordöstlich von Siena. Er pflanzte auf rund zwei Hektar den Caberlot mit sehr dichter Bepflanzung an, um die Erträge mit maximal 3.000 Liter je Hektar möglichst niedrig zu halten.
